So one of the most common questions that we get is, “Will this Hydrofin system work on my boat?” So we’re going to answer that question this video, and the first thing is at least for the time being, so this is the system is designed and engineered for double pontoon boat. So we do have a system that we’re working on currently for tritoons which will come out in the spring of 2021, but for the time being, this is for double pontoon boats and it is a universal system, so I want to just kind of talk about a couple of things.
So when we look at the boats, and, sort of, you know, designing the system and how we install it on different boats; what we’re looking for really is – “What is the size of the boat?, what’s the length of the boat?” What I mean by that – “What is the total weight of the boat? and what size horsepower does the boat have?” And so it’s really those three metrics that kind of help us determine how do we install it and what are some of the tools that we need or parts that we need.
And so, what I’ll do is I’ll just show you on this example. So this is the structural plate. This is one of the very first things that mounts to the inside of the log of the boat, and as you can see here, it’s got a curved diameter to this plate here. And so, we’ve got different plate sizes for different log sizes, so they match up perfectly to the size of the boat. And then beyond that, one of the other things that we’ve got incorporated within the system. So, once this is on the boat, on this plate here, mounts to the structural plate and then the main foil – the main wing – mounts to this. And if you can see it in the video, this is actually not-, this is called a Torpedo Bracket. It’s not sitting directly flush with this; and the reason for that is, because we have the ability to actually change the angle of attack that the wing hits the water. And what that does is it actually changes the lift, so the angle of attack that the wing hits the water changes the lifting force.
And so what we can do with that is, when we consult with you to figure out: “Okay, you know, what size is your boat? horsepower?” all those metrics we were talking about earlier, we determine then how much lift is required to generate the performance that we’re looking for on your boat. And we do that by actually, during the installation process, changing the angle of attack that this mounts.
